Ogden Mommy and Me Serger Apron with Kathy

This darling apron is a pattern from Classic Sewing magazine, Holiday
2017 issue.  We will focus on the child's apron in class but the pattern
is also for an adult size.
We will use some different techniques on the serger:  ruffling, piping,
rolled hem.  You can buy premade piping or we will learn how to make
your own.
BONUS:  For your pattern you will receive the entire Holiday 2017 issue.  The
magazine comes with other patterns included!

The apron as shown needs 2 different fabrics.  Class will move a little 
quicker for you if you cut your pieces ahead of time.  Materials needed 
are listed below.

From fabric A cut the following:

2 – 7 inch squares for bib front and lining

2 – 1 ½ inch x 15 ½ inch strip for waistband front and lining

1 – 4 ½ x 32-inch strip for the top ruffle

1 – 6 ½ x 32-inch strip for the lower ruffle

1 – 3 ½ x 15-inch strip for top under panel

1 – 5 x 15-inch strip for bottom under panel


From fabric B cut the following:

1 – 5 ½ x 32-inch strip for middle ruffle

2 – 2 ½ x 17-inch strips for the neck ties

2 – 3 ½ x 18-inch strips for the waist ties

1 – 2 ½ x 9-inch strip for the bib ruffle

Skill Details:While we will learn some serger techniques in this class, you need to be proficient at threading your machine and comfortable with adjusting tensions.
Requirements:You will need your serger and sewing supplies, 4 cones of matching or coordinating thread for your fabric, a decorative thread (embroidery or Wooly Nylon/Polyarn thread works well) for the rolled hem, a gathering foot for your serger if you have it, cording or piping foot (for the piping), size 90 topstitch needles are recommended. Fabric A is 5/8 yard, Fabric B is 3/8 yard. Pre-made piping is 1 yard.
